Skoltech
Modular skoltech.ru platform: role-based admin, page builder aligned with the design system, multilingual content, semester calendar, and four accessibility themes.

Skoltech is an international university that trains technology, science, and business leaders, runs frontier research, and helps bring technologies to market. WAPP built the public site and admin panel: editors assemble pages from modules themselves, without constant designer or developer tickets.
Site: skoltech.ru.
A university platform: frontend and admin with modular blocks, role-based access, and accessibility themes for low-vision users.
Challenge
Skoltech is a large organization with a complex internal hierarchy. The site had to reflect the institute’s directions, and the content team needed to manage entities without tangled relationships.
What had to ship:
- independent component modules so admins can assemble pages within the design system;
- a role model: different people own content, with multi-level access to entities;
- brand-book logic: colors, spacing, type — without breaking schemes;
- GOST compliance for educational institution websites;
- dynamic filters for programs, courses, institutions, and anything else filterable;
- a custom calendar for academic semester schedules;
- multilingual publishing with different content per locale.
Modular component system
Editors can add blocks to a page and reorder them. Each block type has a spacing system so the layout stays intact.
Blocks are split by functional depth:
- compact ones for shared modules: banners, forms, dropdowns;
- larger ones that accept incoming data and render categories: labs, professors, degree programs, center news.
Mapping the relationship graph and making the admin panel understandable for that hierarchy was an engineering problem — not “another WordPress theme.”
Color preset system
Every brand-book color is a variable. Variables form sets; sets become presets for the main site sections. One section picks a color set at random on each page load.
Accessibility: four alternate themes
Beyond GOST for education sites, we shipped low-vision themes. Four color palettes with different contrast levels recolor every element and change how images render. The choice persists across navigation until the user resets it.

A flexible platform: admins manage blocks and pages without pulling designers or engineers into every edit. After launch, collaboration continues — feature work and technical support run continuously.
Client testimonial
I want to thank the WAPP team for delivering the new Skoltech website. The work produced an architecture that comprehensively reflects the Institute’s directions. The team shipped a complex admin panel that now drives content entry and updates across every page. A cross-cutting system of links between entities and subsections also reduced the effort of content management. We continue working with WAPP after launch: additional features are in development, and technical support runs continuously. Requests are taken into work quickly and handled carefully. In urgent situations — weekend requests, external attacks, long approval cycles — the team always met us halfway and delivered on the timelines we needed.
